Trips from Elounda to Spinalonga the former leper colony are frequent and well worth a visit. The surroundings offer lovely walks and if you climb the hill between Elounda and the road to the main highway you will be rewarded with fantastic views, not only of Elounda but also the whole the of Mirabello bay.
Elounda is a beautiful moderate sized fishing village on the north east coast of the island and has become over the years a favorite tourist destination. Elounda offers a wide range of accommodation to suit all with many restaurants, tavernas, bars and shops on the main street and the main square.
